Morgan City, LA – A Spirit‑led tribute of thanksgiving and heartfelt praise unto God, honoring the blessed and beautiful life of Evangelist Zelda Ruth Davis, whose faith and grace continue to shine as a testament of God's goodness will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 1:00 PM at AARP Building 4014 Chennault Street, Morgan City, LA. Apostle Lee Condolle will serve as the officiant and Apostle Thaddeus J. Escort, Sr. of Pure Divine Joy Ministries will deliver the eulogy.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM at AARP Building and will continue prayerfully until the hour of service.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2 Timothy 7-8

Zelda Ruth Davis was born in Morgan City, Louisiana on September 28th, 1958, to the late Leroy "Pete" Davis, Jr. and Jacqueline Edith Johnson Davis.  Zelda was a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada for 19 years and a long-life resident of Thibodaux, Louisiana for 18 years.  She was baptized at an early age at Mt. Era Baptist Church, in Morgan City, (Klingsville), Louisiana by the late Reverend Theodore Franklin, Sr.

Known to her family and friends as "Sue," Zelda possessed an infectious smile and heart of compassion.  She loved food, family, college football, and basketball.  She took pride in serving as the Vice President of the Lafourche Council on Aging. Zelda loved all her family and friends dearly, but the apple of her eye was undeniably Tater.

Zelda was a faithful member of her church, Pure Divine Joy Ministries in Morgan City, Louisiana, under the leadership of the Apostle Thaddeus and Pastor Jeanine Escort, where she served for 24 years until God called her home.  She faithfully served through the Feeding the Souls Outreach, 1st Family Support and Deacon Ministry.  She found great joy in capturing special moments through her love of church photography.  She was ordained Evangelist Zelda Davis and was a pillar of service, strength, and unconditional love.  Elder Zelda was the epitome of being loyal, dedicated and committed to her loving church and church family.

On Sunday, July 19th, 2026, at 1:15 A.M. Zelda was told "job well done, my child", and she was peacefully received by her Heavenly Father and entered her eternal resting place, in the arms of Jesus Christ her Savior.

Zelda leaves to cherish her precious memories to her mother, Jacqueline Edith Davis of Morgan City, Louisiana, brother; Eric (Clara) Davis of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; three sisters; Joslyn (Kevin) Anderson of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; Jeanine (Thaddeus) Escort; and Denise (Ismael) Beltran both of Thibodaux, Louisiana; a sister in love; Alisa (Armando) Castillo of Lafayette, Louisiana; 7 god-children; Jace Winslow, whom she helped rear, and Jessica Davis of Thibodaux, Louisiana; Malaiyah Elaine Mayfield of Morgan City, Louisiana; and Dajah Marie Singleton of Franklin, Louisiana; Harmony Davis, Schuyler "Bubba" Sanders, both of Thibodaux, Louisiana, and Kamryn Cuneo of Thibodaux, Louisiana; a dear friend Maxine Farlow Matthews of Thibodaux, Louisiana; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Zelda was proceeded in death by her father Leroy "Pete" Davis Jr., parental grandparents Leroy Davis Sr., and Walter and Alberta Campbell Winston, and maternal grandparents Murphy and Edith Johnson Sr., two nieces Sherrenda Collins and Deasia D. Lee; a long-life partner, Charles "Milo" Pratt; and cousin/best friend Judy Davis.

With faith in God's promises and hearts lifted in prayer, the family celebrates her life, her spirit, and the legacy she leaves behind.
