New Iberia – Visitation for Wayne Anthony Derouen, Sr., also known as "Slick",  66, will begin on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 8:00 AM at Davis Family Mortuary Chapel, 802 Weldon Street, New Iberia, LA. Loved ones will gather as a rosary is prayed at 9:00 AM, followed by family tributes honoring his life, stories, and the memories he leaves behind. These remembrances will continue until 12:00 Noon.

He will be laid to rest at Beau Pre Cemetery, 7605 E Old Spanish Trail, Jeanerette, LA.

Wayne "Slick" Derouen was born on Tuesday, December 29, 1959, in New Iberia, Louisiana, to Roy Derouen and Audrey Buteau Derouen. A proud lifelong resident of New Iberia, he was educated in the Iberia Parish school system and went on to build a career as a skilled welder before retiring.

Wayne found true joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time at the camp, hunting and fishing, playing cards, watching football, and most of all, being surrounded by his family. He had a special eye for beauty and a creative spirit—often sitting outside with his best friend, Larry Leger, capturing God's creation through his paintings.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Audrey Saucier and Roy Derouen Sr.; his brother, Dean Derouen; and his in-laws, Donald and Betty Fages.

Wayne leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory forever. He is survived by his devoted wife, Cheri Fages Derouen; his children, Wayne Derouen Jr. (Jenny) of New Iberia, Trinity Derouen of New Iberia, Trisha Crouch (Brady) of Lafayette, Justin Derouen (Kaylin) of New Iberia, and Kelly Rick Prados (David) of Lafayette. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren—Brianne, Caden, Tristin, Jonah, Paisley Derouen, Teche Reeves, and Jackie and Kyah Francis of New Iberia—and a great-grandfather to Ember Fontenot.

He is also survived by his siblings, Kim Derouen (Nellie) of Jeanerette and Roy Derouen Jr. of Jeanerette; his sisters-in-law, Dana Derouen of Jeanerette and Leslie Derouen (Randall) of New Iberia; his brother-in-law, Chris Fages (Rachel) of Broussard; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Wayne passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 6:00 PM.

Honoring his life as pallbearers are Wayne Derouen Jr., Trisha Crouch, Justin Derouen, Kelly Prados, Brianne Derouen, and Brady Crouch.

The family has entrusted their loved one to the caring professionals at Davis Family Mortuary, 802 Weldon Street, New Iberia, LA.
