New Iberia - A Time of Remembrance for Tristan Kendall James Abernathy, "Lil Tristan", will be held Friday, April 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Davis Family Mortuary Chapel, 802 Weldon Street, New Iberia, LA.

Visitation will begin at 11AM until 1:00 PM for the time of the Time of Remembrance and will conclude 5:00 PM at Davis Family Mortuary Chapel, 802 Weldon Street, New Iberia, LA.

With the deepest sorrow and broken hearts, the Abernathy family announces the passing of Tristan Kendall James Abernathy, known as "Lil Tristan," age 21, who left this world on March 17, 2026. Tristan lived in multiple cities throughout his life but always called Lydia home.

Tristan was a free spirit who woke up every day searching for his next adventure. Whether it was fishing, working on cars, riding bikes, or chasing some wild, random idea, he embraced life with boundless energy and curiosity. A true "gangsta with a huge heart," Tristan formed personal connections with nearly everyone he met. He was the most compassionate person, humble yet confident, kind, playful, and deeply forgiving. Even when the struggles were real, he remained full of life, real, and naturally gifted at anything he did.

Tristan had heart until the very end. He touched countless lives, left behind so many unforgettable stories, and will forever be remembered as a legend. We are so incredibly proud of the person he was and the light he brought into the world.

Tristan is survived by his son, Kasen Abernathy; his loving parents, Lacey Abernathy and Kendall Smith; his siblings, Brailey, Londyn, Wayman, and Makayla; and many extended family members and friends whose lives he enriched.

Tristan may no longer be here to chase new adventures, but his stories, his laughter, and his big heart will live on in all of us. He will never be forgotten. To everyone who was part of his story—thank you for sharing in his journey with us. Forever 21!
