Sarah Lucille "Pam" Kirt Sweet

New Iberia – A Celebration of Life will be held for Sarah Lucille Kirt Sweet, 75, on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Davis Family Mortuary Chapel, 802 Weldon St., New Iberia, LA. Pastor Dr. Quantriay Kirt will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin at 8:00 AM and conclude at 10:00 AM at the funeral home on Saturday.

Interment will follow in Little Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Verdunville, LA.

Sarah was born on Monday, June 27,  1949 to the union of the late Earl Kirt, Sr. and Naomi Kemp Kirt  in Verdunville, LA.   She attended the schools of St. Mary Parish and was a graduate of Park Avenue High School, Class of 1968. She furthered her education at McNeese State University and Spencer Business College where she received her degree in Computer Programing. As an educator, she had the opportunity to teach many children preparing them for success in life.  Being strong-willed, no one could change her mind about what she believed. She was baptized at an early age at Little Zion Baptist Church in Verdunville, LA (her family church).

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two siblings, Nellie Marie Kirt and Earl Kirt, Jr. and her maternal grandparents, Joshua Kemp and Sarah George Kemp. Following a valiant battle with illness, Sarah peacefully transcended to eternal rest on Thursday, October 17, 2024 in Abbeville, LA.

Sarah leaves many fond and precious memories with; her only child,  Kina (Lawrence, Sr.) Sweet-Gilbert of New Iberia, LA; two siblings, Ida Kirt Prevost of Channelview, TX and Eugene Kirt of Verdunville, LA; her grandchildren, Kylon Sweet-Gilbert of New Iberia, LA, Lawrence  (Lorie) Gilbert, Jr. of Little Rock, AR, Lawrence Gilbert, III of New Orleans, LA, Kimberly Gilbert of Waggerman, LA, and Keith (Treasure) Bourgeois of Patterson, LA; a great-nephew and godson, Jusnz Kirt, Jr. of Houston, TX; and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
