ROSETTA MAY VERDIN

Patterson – A Homegoing Celebration for Rosetta May Verdin, 69, will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 2:00 PM at St. Luke Baptist Church, 1709 Harry St., Patterson, LA. Pastor Keith Verret will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM at the church until time of service.

Private interment will be at a later date.

Rosetta May-Verdin was born on Wednesday, February 1, 1956 to the union of Shirley Mae Smith-May and the late Marvin May, Jr in Franklin, LA.  She attended school in St. Mary Parish, LA. She was married Sylvester Verdin on August 6, 2006. This blended family brought together five children.  She was baptized and grew up in St. Luke Baptist Church.

In addition to her dad, she was also preceded in death by three sisters, Annette May, Jeanette May and Marva May; a nephew Manley Jackson; brother-in-law, Melvin Fields; and seven aunts and uncles, Sara Augman, Delores Smith, Gail Smith, Huey Smith, Hillard Smith, Al Smith and Nate Smith. Rosetta suddenly passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025 in her home in Morgan City, LA.

Rosetta leaves to celebrate precious memories with her husband, Sylvester Verdin of Patterson, LA; her mother, Shirley Mae May of Patterson, LA; her children, Batina Burgess, Fallon Burgess, Clarence (Kelly) Jennings, III and Jamal Pollard, all of Patterson, LA and Raylon  (Dorshae) May of Atlanta, GA; nine siblings, Marvin May, III, Sherial May, Sylvia Fields, Beatrice May and Julia (Carl) Sterling, all of Patterson, LA, Karen May of Thibodaux, LA, Judy May, Lois (Limdzie) Palmer and Caprice (Kelvin) Britt, all of Atlanta, GA; daughter-in-love, Raynetta Ramdass of Patterson, LA; godchildren, Honerine Dyer of Dallas, TX and Mariah Fields of Baton Rouge, LA; her father and mother-in-law, Grant and Justine Wesley, both of Patterson, LA fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relative and friends will always hold her close to their hearts.
