Pastor Donald James Mitchell

A Memorial Homegoing Celebration for Pastor Donald James, 71, will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 2:00 PM at House Of Love Ministry, 700 W. Church St., St. Martinville, LA.  Pastor Oscar Gray, officiating.

The family can be greeted beginning at 1:00 PM  at the church on Friday.until the time of service.

Interment will be private in the church's cemetery.

Donald was born on Saturday, May 16, 1953 to the union of the late Carol Mitchell and Harriet Dauphine Mitchell in St. Martinville, LA.  He graduated from high school in1971.  He worked as a Foreman as well as several capacities in other industries. His greatest assignment was to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was the founding pastor of The Word Only Church.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Ben Mitchell; a daughter, Kimberly Alexander ; three siblings, Melvin Mitchell, Winola Mitchell and CJ Mitchell and his father and mother -in-law, Dennis Narcisse, Sr. and Dorothy Perro  Narcisse. After a life dedicated to the Lord Jesus Christ, he was promoted to eternal rest on Saturday, January 11, 2025 in New Iberia, LA with his family at his bedside. "Servant of God well done."

Pastor Donald leaves a rich christian legacy with his wife, Tracie Narcisse Mitchell of St. Martinville; his children, Tammy Alexander of Baldwin, LA, Tiffany (Kevin) Hypolite of Houston, TX, Brett Alexander, Sr.  and Dequincy Narcisse, both of St. Martinville, LA;  his siblings, Darrell Mitchell, Shirley (Jack) Davis, Bernice Mitchell and Nancy Jones, all of St. Martinville; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  "Hide me oh my Saviour hide, til the storm of life is past; safe into thy haven guide, Oh receive my soul at last."
