New Iberia – A Celebration of Life for Michael "Hershey" Honore, Sr. will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Davis Family Mortuary Chapel, 802 Weldon Street, New Iberia, LA.

Visitation will begin at 8:00 AM on Saturday at the chapel, where family and friends may gather to share memories, offer comfort, and honor his life until the time of service.

He will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery, West Main Street, New Iberia, LA.

Michael Ray Honore, Sr., lovingly known as "Hershey," was born on October 23, 1969, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to the late Wilson Honore II and Baby Ellen Jones. He was educated in the Iberia Parish school system and proudly called New Iberia his lifelong home.

Detailing cars was more than a profession for Michael—it was a true passion that reflected his creativity and care. For a time, he also assisted Davis Family Mortuary as part of the support staff, offering his helping hands and warm spirit wherever needed. Michael was full of life, and his infectious personality had a way of lighting up any room he entered.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Wilson Honore, David Honore, and Rusty Allen Honore; his maternal grandparents, Clarence and Matilda Benjamin Jones; paternal grandparents, Wilson Honore, III and Olivia Fontenette Honore; and one brother‑in‑law, Leroy Herbert.

Michael made his peaceful transition on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the age of 56. He carried a playful, fun‑loving spirit, a generous heart, and a presence that left a lasting imprint on everyone who knew him. His memory will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those he loved.

He leaves behind cherished memories to his two children, Mikel Maturin of New Iberia, LA, and Michael Honore, Jr. of New York, NY; six grandchildren: Raymore Maturin, Zendaya Alexander, Keylan Maturin, Malakye Dunn, Khalil Maturin, and Paisley Maturin; siblings: Ella Marie Day, Angelina, Peters, Kimberly Herbert, Terry Honore, Quanisha Honore all of New Iberia, LA, Tynishia Honore of Lafayette, LA, and Carlos (Sharon) Allen of Breaux Bridge, LA.

He is also remembered by his bonus parents, Hilda and Joe Evans and Slevadell Allen, all of New Iberia, LA; his best friends, Travis Levine and Neal Doucet; uncles: Slyvio Jones and Ernest Jones; two special nieces, Latoya Allen and Tanisha Daye; and special cousins: Ronnie Benjamin, Tye Armstead, Tracy Jones and Theresa Armstead; two bonus brothers: Tarie Gilliams and Tyrail Gilliams, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will forever hold his memory close.
