Jeanerette, LA - With heartfelt sorrow and faith in God's eternal promises, the Ledet family of Jeanerette, LA, announces the passing of Lillie Cassimere Ledet, who entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the age of 74 years old. Though their hearts are heavy with grief, we pray that her family will find comfort in knowing that she is now embraced by our Lord and Savior.

A quiet hour to visit with the family and pay respect to Ms. Lillie will be observed beginning at 5:00PM and will conclude at 7:00 PM at Davis Family Mortuary, 802 Weldon Street, New Iberia, LA.

A homegoing celebration will be held Saturday August 15, 2026, at 10:00AM at St Peter United Methodist Church, 986 St Peter St, Jeanerette, LA.

Visitation will begin at 8:00AM at St Peter United Methodist Church and conclude at the time of service.

Interment will be held at St Peter United Methodist Church Cemetery immediately following the conclusion of the service.

Lillie Mae Cassimere Ledet was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, on Monday, December 3, 1951, to the late Alex John Cassimere and Leola Carroll Cassimere. She was a lifelong resident of Jeanerette, Louisiana, where she built a life centered on faith, family, and community.

Lillie worked in retail at Walmart for 20 years. She genuinely enjoyed the camaraderie of her coworkers and cherished the conversations she shared with customers each day. Her warm smile, kind spirit, and friendly nature left a lasting impression on those she encountered.

On September 25, 1976, Lillie married the love of her life, Wilbert Ledet Sr. Over the course of 49 years together, they built a beautiful and loving family that became the center of her world and her greatest source of pride and joy. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose love knew no bounds.

In addition to her parents, Lillie was preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Alice and Wilbert Ledet; her grandparents, Alex Cassimere, Charlie Carroll, and Willie Carroll; her nephew, Joshua Hopes; and her nieces, Jennifer Hopes and Adrienne Sampay.

Psalm 46:1-2 reminds us: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, will not we fear." With the promise of eternal peace, Lillie made her final transition on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the age of 74.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew her. Left to treasure her memory are her three sons, Christopher Ledet of Jeanerette, Louisiana, Wilbert Ledet Jr. (Beth) of Erath, Louisiana, and Kenton Ledet (Latricia) of Lafayette, Louisiana; her two daughters, Christina Ledet of New Iberia, Louisiana, and Lillie Ann Ledet of Jeanerette, Louisiana; her siblings, Alice Hopes (Joshua) and Willie Mae Sampy, both of Jeanerette, Louisiana, and Junius Cassimere, Sr. (Lois) of Four Corners, Louisiana. She also leaves to cherish her memory seventeen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Lillie will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her gentle heart, her strength in the face of life's challenges, and the kindness she extended to those she encountered. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love and legacy will remain with her family for generations to come.
