Franklin, LA - In humble submission to God, the Welch family announces the transition of Mr. Larry Gene Welch, Sr., who entered eternal rest on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the blessed age of 70. He was a resident of Franklin, Louisiana.

A service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church, Franklin, 1110 Barrow Street, Franklin, LA, Pastor Allen Randle, Sr., Pastor and Supt. Donald Lanceslin, Sr., officiant.

Visitation will held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 8:00AM at Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church, Franklin, 1110 Barrow Street, Franklin, LA until the time of service.

Internment will be held at Perpetual Park, Franklin, LA.

Larry Gene Welch Sr. was born on June 18, 1956, to the late Henderson Welch Sr. and Helen E. Boyd Welch. He was educated through the St. Mary Parish School System, where he spent his formative years growing and learning in the community he called home.

Larry accepted Christ and was baptized at St. John Baptist Church in St. Joseph, Louisiana, by Reverend Wells. His favorite passage of Scripture, Isaiah 40:28–31, speaks of trusting in the Lord for renewed strength and serves as a beautiful reflection of faith, endurance, and hope.

A hardworking and dedicated man, Larry spent more than 25 years working offshore. His years in the offshore industry were a testament to his strong work ethic and his commitment to providing for those he loved.

Outside of work, Larry knew how to enjoy life. He loved listening to his music, dancing, spending time with his family, and cheering for his beloved New Orleans Saints. Whether enjoying a favorite song, watching the Saints play, or simply being surrounded by those closest to him, Larry treasured the moments that brought family together. Those who knew and loved him will remember the personality, laughter, and memories he brought into their lives.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Helen E. Boyd Welch and Henderson Welch Sr.; and his sisters, Susan Boyd and Julie Boyd.

On Thursday, August 13, 2026, Larry completed his earthly journey and entered into eternal rest. Although his physical presence will be deeply missed, the love he shared, the lessons he taught, and the memories created throughout his life will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends.

Larry’s legacy will live on through his loving family: his sons, Larry Welch Jr. and Brandon Welch, and his beloved “bonus son,” Jeremiah Jennings; his grandchildren, A’layjah Welch, LaDontae’ Brown, Laniyah Welch, La’Shalynn Welch, and Taylor Landry; and his great-grandchildren, Taiden Welch and Kaiden Welch.

He also leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, Henderson Welch Jr.; Mary Beth Whitehead (Henry); Stephanie Gibson (Northern); John Boyd Sr. (Lori Ann); Steven Boyd (Kimberly); Andrea Boyd; Bernadette Bell; Gail Williams; Connie Watson; Cheryl Gover; and Debra Griffin; his beloved godchild, Carlos Archangel; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, loved ones, and friends.

As Larry’s family celebrates his life and holds tightly to the memories he leaves behind, they find comfort in the words of his favorite Scripture: “Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary?... But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles...”— Isaiah 40:28–31

Larry Gene Welch Sr. lived, loved, worked, laughed, danced, and created memories that will continue through the generations of his family. His earthly journey has ended, but his legacy of love will live on.
