JOSEPH JAMES ROBERTS, SR.

Lafayette – Graveside services for Mr. Joseph James Roberts, Sr, 93, will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 AT 2:00 PM at Calvary Cemetery, 355 Teurlings Dr., Lafayette, LA.

Military Honors will be rendered by Ft. Johnson Honor Squad Inurnment will immediately follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Joseph was born on Tuesday, February 23, 1932 to the union of the late Abel Roberts and Gladys Veazey Roberts in Lafayette, LA. He enlisted in the US Army and received an honorable discharge. On March 15,1969 he married the former Mary Bertha Arabie and they were blessed with four children.  He was christened into the catholic faith. He was also self-employed as a carpenter until his retirement.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son- Anthony Comeaux; brother, Johnny Roberts and his father and mother-in-law, Totsie and Elise Arabie.  Joseph peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Amelia Manor Nursing Home in Lafayette, where he was a lifelong resident.

Joseph leaves to celebrate his life include his wife of fifty-six, Mary Bertha Arabie-Roberts of Lafayette, LA; three children, Julie (Roger) Duval, Tracy Roberts and Joseph Roberts, Jr., All of Lafayette, LA; a daughter-in-law, Connie Comeaux of Duson, LA; one cousin, Barbara Prejean of Lafayette, LA; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
