Morgan City - Funeral services for Joseph Reginald Davis, 66, will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Walmsley United Methodist Church, 608 Freret Street, Morgan City, LA.  Rev. Sherry Matthews will serve as officiant.

Joseph may be visited at Walmsley United Methodist Church, 608 Freret Street, Morgan City, LA on Saturday, February 28, 2026, beginning at 9:00AM and will conclude at the time of service.

He will be laid to rest at Morgan City Cemetery 450 Myrtle St, Morgan City, LA 70380.

Joseph Reginald Davis was Born on April 21, 1959, to Catherine Davis and Wilbert Singleton, Sr. Joseph was a man of deep faith and unwavering dedication. He was a faithful and active member of Walmsley United Methodist Church, where he faithfully served and ensured that the needs of the church were met.

Affectionately known as "RIP," he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. His love for family was evident in every aspect of his life. A passionate sport's enthusiast, Rip enjoyed watching all sports, but he was a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers fan through and through—win or lose. When the Steelers were playing, visitors knew they would receive a warm greeting, but his focus would quickly return to the game, as if he were coaching from his living room.

As a youth, Rip excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. His love for athletics carried into adulthood, where he poured into the next generation by coaching biddy basketball, refereeing games, and most especially serving as an umpire for softball and baseball teams. He remained committed to the field until health challenges no longer allowed him to endure the sports he loved so dearly.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Davis; his father, Wilbert Singleton, Jr., his parents-in-law, Earl Garrett, Sr. and Evelyn Garrett and two brothers: Carl Singelton, Sr. and Vince Murray and grandparents, aunts and uncles.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving wife of 30 years, Patricia Garrett Davis of Morgan City, LA; two daughters, Wynisha Davis-Francis (Michael) of Carencro, LA, and Jacelyn Bouillion of Morgan City, LA; two sons, Jarvis Davis (Roxanna) of Dallas/Fort Worth, TX, and Terrance Davis, Sr. of Morgan City, LA. His godchildren, Erica Davis-Lee and Gerren Hayes, Sr.

He is also survived by five sisters: Pamela Sanders of Patterson, LA; Sherree Singleton, Cassandra Thomas (Johnell), and Chyrell Singleton, all of Morgan City, LA, and Darlene Davis of Bayou Vista, LA; and five brothers: Richard Davis, Sr. (Connie), Joseph Singleton, Sr. (Judy) of Patterson, LA; Wilbert Singleton, III of Morgan City, LA and Eric Davis (Clara) of Baton Rouge, LA ; and Darroll Singleton of Seattle; six beloved grandchildren: Brianna Davis, Brianna Francis, Bryson Davis, Terrance Davis, Jr., Ta'Leigh Wright, and Lincoln Bertrand; three aunts: Jacqueline Davis, Thelma Bill of Morgan City, LA; and Edna Knight of Seattle, WA; sisters-in-law: Edwina Craft (Milton), Vanessa Francis (Nigel, Sr.), Cassandra Thomas (Ashley), Lenora Jones (Etoyi, Sr.), and Tiffany Crayton (Alejandra, Sr.); brothers-in-law: Earl Garrett, Jr. (Iileen), James Garrett (Patricia), and Darwin Garrett, two very special cousins: Cyril Tebo and Hiram Nurse, a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and many dear friends who will forever cherish his life and legacy.

Joseph "RIP" Reginald Davis was a native and lifelong resident of Morgan City, Louisiana. He entered eternal rest peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, surrounded by his loving family. He will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his love for family, his dedication to his community, and the joy he found in sports and fellowship. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the many lives he touched.

Joseph passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. He was a resident of Morgan City, LA. The family has entrusted their loved one to the caring professionals at Davis Family Mortuary, 802 Weldon Street, New Iberia, LA.
