Four Corners - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for John Sutton, Sr. at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 1325 Big 4 Corners Rd, Franklin, LA.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 1325 Big 4 Corners Rd, Franklin, LA. at 9:00 AM. A recitation of the rosary will begin at 10:00 AM.

He will await the resurrection at Sorrell Community Cemetery, Sorrell, LA.

John Sutton Sr. was born on Sunday, August 30, 1959, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to the late John Marks Sr. and the late Josephine Sutton Jordan. He was baptized at an early age at St. John the Apostle Church and received his education in St. Mary Parish, where he proudly graduated from Franklin Senior High School, Class of 1977.

John was employed as a welder at the Port of Iberia with McDermott, where he was known as a hardworking and dedicated man. Outside of work, he found peace and joy in fishing and hunting, activities that allowed him to enjoy the outdoors he loved so much. John had a deep appreciation for old-school R&B and traditional gospel music, which often filled his home. In his moments of relaxation, he enjoyed having a beer or two and occasionally sipping his favorite whiskey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Herman Marks, John Henry Marks, Sr., sisters, Delores Jordan and Cheryl Beasley; grandson, Devon Sutton; and grandparents Louis Sr. and Elizabeth Marks.

John leaves to cherish his memories to his children: John Sutton, Jr of Jeanerette, LA, Ja'Michael Joe of New Iberia, LA , Teressa Sutton, of Jeanerette, LA ; God-daughter, ShaKeesa Jordan of Four Corners, LA; siblings: Doris Grant (Melvin), Edna Jordan King, Betty Guy, Shirley Griffin (Lester), and Leroy Jordan all of Houston, TX., Donald Ray Jordan, Michael Ray Jordan, Alvin Jordan, Anthony Jordan, Sr., and Nicholas Beasley, all of Four Corners, LA and Darrell Jordan, Sr. of Germany; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

John Sutton Sr. will be remembered for his love of simple pleasures, his strong work ethic, and the quiet moments he shared with those around him. He finished his journey here on earth on Thursday, January 15, 2026. He was 66 years old.
