Jeanerette - Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. John "JB" Rideaux, 99, will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of The Rosary Catholic Church,11200 Old Jeanerette Rd, Jeanerette, LA. Fr. Francis Damoah, will serve as Celebrant.

Visitation/Wake Service will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, beginning at 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Davis Family Mortuary Chapel, 802 Weldon Street, New Iberia, LA.

Mr. John Batiste Rideaux, 99, was born on Saturday, January 16, 1926, to the late Paul and Eva Rideaux in Plaisance, LA. Even though his education was limited, he was wise beyond his years and was the historian of the family. As a young adult, the family relocated to Four Corners, LA and then to Jeanerette, LA approximately in 1955. He was baptized as an infant into the Catholic faith and was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, where he served many years as an usher, as well as maintenance for the church grounds and other carpentry work as the church needed.

During his first marriage to the now deceased Delores Rideaux, they were blessed with ten children. He later married the former Sandra Youman in 1997 who preceded him in death. In his early years he worked as an electrician for CLECO and later did farming mechanic work for Switzer Sales and Services in Jeanerette, LA. His pastime often involved hunting, which he enjoyed immensely.

One of his greatest joys was spending time with family. He was an excellent cook. One of his specialties was his green bean casserole and smoking fish on his grill. He was trilingual and very fluent in speaking English, Louisiana Creole and Parisian French.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he is preceded in death by his son, Erris Paul Rideaux; siblings: Roy (Mary Louise) Rideaux, Sr., Elvena (Joseph, Sr.) Davis, Walter (Mable) Rideaux, Sr., Ella (Leon, Sr.) Martin, Rodney Rideaux, Henry (Shirley) Rideaux, Frederick (Florence) Rideaux, Elnora Williams, and father-in-law, Junius Raymond. "JB", as he was affectionately called, transcended to eternal rest on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at approximately 8:30 PM at his daughter and son-in-law's home where he was lovingly cared for in Terrytown, LA. A life well lived, and a rest well earned.

John's life, love and legacy spanned three months short of a century and leaves everlasting memories with his children: John Charles Rideaux of Reserve, LA, Phil (Joyce) Rideaux, Sr., of Baton Rouge, LA, Melinda Rideaux and Mark Rideaux, both of Houston, TX, Melissa (Alfred) Pierre of Terrytown, LA, Alonzo Rideaux of New Iberia, LA, Marcia (Phillip) Guillory and Thaddeus (Janice) Rideaux, both of Lake Charles, LA, Malfreda (Darrell) Crosby of Jeanerette, LA; bonus children: Van Ray (Renee) Alexander of Dallas, TX and Valorie Charles of LaPlace, LA; mother-in-law, Joean Carroll Smith of New Iberia, LA,  brothers and sisters in law: Carl (Rachel) Moore, Sheral Iles, Gayle Hamilton and Edward Barrideaux all of New Iberia, LA, Lavon (Mario) Johnson of Prairieville, LA, Carlos (Lydia) Barrideaux and Lisa Raymond, both of Port Arthur, TX; 40 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren and a host of extended relatives and friends who loved him dearly.

"JB" was a native of Jeanerette, LA and a resident of Terrytown, LA.
