Remembering the Life of Jerry Leon Sorrell

New Iberia - A Life Celebration Service for Jerry Leon Sorrell,  76, will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Davis Family Mortuary Chapel, 802 Weldon St., New Iberia, LA.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM and conclude at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the Funeral Home.

Private interment will be in Sorrel Community Cemetery.

Jerry was born on January 10, 1949, to Mary Marks Robertson and Peter Sorrell Sr., Emmich Robertson, Sr., in Houston, Texas. He was baptized at an early age. He attended school at St. Mary Parish School. He worked at Morton salt for over 25 Years until he retired.

Jerry was a Devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend. He was always a good person to whoever encountered him. He Love to ride and listen to his Music. One goddaughter Evangelist Leonorra Jones. His Special Nephew Randy Jackson, His Three Special Friend's Micheal Lewis, Ray Polidore & Roland "Putt" Barnes. And his dog he loves so dearly JOJO.He met the Love of his life and married Delilah Sorrell in 1980.

On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, God was in needed for a flower for his garden the Lord called, and he answered the call and took his wings heavenly wings home to rest.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Mary Marks Robertson, Peter Sorrell Sr., Emmich Robertson Sr., one Daughter Cassandra Sorrell, two Sister's Essie Lee Simpson & Sarah Lee Robertson Moore, ten brother's Peter Sorrell Jr., Raymond Robertson Sr., Casey Sorrell, Sanders Sorrell, Gilord Sorrell, Charles Robertson Sr., Robert Robertson, Emmich Robertson Jr., Matthews Robertson and Alfred Robertson.

Jerry leaves to Cheriah with his loving memories with his wife, Delilah Sorrell of 45 years. One daughter Jerena {Brodie} Soirez of New Iberia,  Eight granddaughter's Orora Crosby of New Iberia, Kaya Richardson, Tatelyn Richardson, Asia Richardson of Charenton , Char'lyin Richardson of Jeanerette, Devia Sorrell of Houston, Daja Sorrell of North Dakota, Destiny {Carl}Sorrell Watson of Hoston, one Grandson Mark Leon Soirez, one great grandson Kai Charles of Charenton, two great granddaughters Aaliyah Green & Ariuah Green of Houston, Three Brother's Raleigh {Priscilla} Robinson Sr, Of Jeanerette, Peter {Sandra} Lumpkins & Edarrell Lumpkin of New Iberia, Six Sister's Alberta {Leonard} Joseph of New Iberia, Clara Bell Jackson Of Four Corners, Dora {Ray} Manuel of Four Corners, Theresa Robertson Eugene of Jeanerette, Louella Robertson Lewis of Jeanerette, Lena {Virgil} Willams of Jeanerette, two sis-in-law Jerry Mae Robertson Four Corners, of & Coristine Robertson of Four Corners.
