Herbert Donald "Duck" Clay-Dominigue

New Iberia – A Homegoing Celebration for Herbert Donald "Duck" Clay -Dominigue, 95, will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Davis Family Mortuary Chapel, 802 Weldon St., New Iberia, LA. Pastor Trent Davis Will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon and conclude at 2:00 PM, the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

He will be laid to rest in St. Jude Church Cemetery in Jeanerette, LA

Herbert, affectionately called "Duck" was born on Wednesday, December 24, 1928 to the late Nellie Clay and Leroy Davis, Sr. in Beaumont, TX.

Although limited in his education, he was wise and knowledgeable. He was a hard worker and took care of his family. He worked many years in the sugar cane industry before retiring. He loved the "western culture" especially that of horses, clothing and hats.

He was baptized at an early age by his late uncle, Pastor Joseph Clay, Jr. at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Patoutville, LA where he attended for many years.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joseph Clay, Sr. and Diriska Clay and seven siblings, Alma Cleary, Ollie Fusilier, Shirley Fusilier, Mary Charles, Pearl Smother, Jerome Davis and Wallace Davis.  Herbert peacefully transitioned to eternal rest on Saturday, October 18, 2024 at his home with his daughters at his side.

Herbert leaves to celebrate his life, and cherish  his love and memory; are his three daughters, Angela Bearard of Dallas , TX,  the twins, Brenda Lively and Linda Lively, both of Jeanerette, LA; four siblings, Baby Lou Hypolite, John (Lillian) Davis, and Leroy Davis, Jr., all of New Iberia, LA and Vinray (Kathy) Davis, of Houston, TX; six grandchildren, Tamika George, Brandon Lively, Renee Lively, Rita Lively, Jayla Locks and Justin Locks; sixteen great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; a host of cousins and those who loved him and will miss him dearly.
