Jeanerette - Homegoing services for Helen Cassimere, 86, will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Peter United Methodist Church, 986 St Peter Street, Jeanerette, LA, with Pastor Helen Duieaux officiating.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Saturday, May 2nd at St. Peter United Methodist Church and conclude at the time of service

She will await the resurrection at St. Peter United Methodist Church Cemetery, Jeanerette LA

Ms. Helen Cassimere was born on Wednesday, September 28,1938, in Kilgore, Louisiana to John and Alberta Carroll Cassimere.  Helen was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  She was known for her warm smile, generous heart, and unwavering faith.  She touched the lives of many through her kindness and devotion to her family.

Helen completed her formal education in St Mary Parish school system.  In her free time, she enjoyed sitting on her porch with her fur babies, and spending time with her family.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Martha, Mildred, Rose, Louvenia, Charlie, Joseph, Leonard, L. J., and Walter; two grandchildren, Debrica Derouselle and Diamonique Dorsey.  She was also preceded in death by two sons in-law, Norman Tarleton and Isreal Gilliam.

She leaves to cherish her life and legacy, her children Mary Gilliam and Michael Cassimere (Doris Augustine) of New Iberia, LA, Lula Tarleton of Patterson, LA, Peggy Provost and Debra (Carnell) Wiles of Jeanerette, LA, Murray (Connie) Dorsey, Jr of Diamondhead, MS and Dwayne Turner of Houston, TX. Her brother, Robert Cassimere of Port Arthur, TX. She is also cherished by eleven grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.  And a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Helen Cassimere, 86, of Jeanerette, Louisiana passed away peacefully at 10:49 PM on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at New Iberia Manor South Rehabilitation Center.

The family has entrusted their loved one to the caring professionals at Davis Family Mortuary, 802 Weldon Street, New Iberia, LA.
