Frankie Mae Welch was born on Wednesday, November 30, 1966, in Lafayette, LA to Frank Welch and Rena Mae Landry Welch. She was reared in the St. Mary parish community and was a high school graduate of Franklin Senior High School. Frankie lived a life filled with love, devotion, and quiet resilience.

She was a woman of many passions and found joy in the simplicity of life, whether it was tending to her vibrant flower garden, spending time with her beloved dogs, or enjoying the laughter and energy of children. Frankie was much more than an aunt to her nieces and nephews, especially to Anickel Lumpkin, whom she raised with all the love and care since she was just a month old.

Frankie was a humble woman who never sought recognition for her selfless actions. Yet, her accomplishments were evident in the lives she touched and the love she shared. She was a quiet spirit who carried a strength that was both inspiring and comforting. Her unwavering positivity was a beacon of hope to those around her; she never complained, choosing instead to find the silver lining in every cloud.  Her personality was a magnet that drew people close, making her a cherished pillar in her community and family. Frankie was well-loved, and her passing leaves a void that will be hard to fill.

In addition to her parents and both of her maternal and paternal grandparents, Frankie was also preceded in death by one brother, Darren Oscar Welch.

She is survived by her sisters Darlene Spain of Franklin, LA, Loretta Welch (Bradley) of Jeanerette, LA and Annette Landry of Houston, TX; brothers, Nathaniel Welch of New Iberia, LA and Joseph Kirklind of Four Corners, LA; aunts, Gertrude Minor of St. Joseph, LA and Clara Johnson of New Iberia, LA; longtime companion, Albert Brandon of Baldwin, LA and a host of nieces, nephews extended relatives and friends.

At the age of 59, Frankie Mae Welch passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Iberia Medical Center. In accordance with Frankie's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. However, the family requests that those who wish to honor her memory do so in their own personal way. They ask that you remember Frankie for her loving spirit, her quiet strength, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Iberia Medical Center, Dr. Sigue, Hospice of Acadiana and extended family and friends for their compassionate care and support during Frankie's final days. In Frankie's name, let us continue to spread the love she so freely gave, and let her legacy be one of unwavering kindness, quiet strength, and enduring love.
