New Iberia - A memorial celebration to remember the life of Ms. Dorothy Brooks Landry, 84 will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM in Davis Family Mortuary Chapel, 802 Weldon Street, New Iberia, LA., Pastor Trent Davis, officiant.

The family may be greeted beginning at 10:00 AM with the recitation of the Rosary at 10:15 AM, prior to the service on Saturday in the funeral home chapel.

Inurnment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery, New Iberia, LA.

Dorothy Mae Brooks-Landry, affectionately known as "Dort" was born, February 26, 1941, in Lafayette, La to her parents, the late Leetha Joseph Brooks and Wilson Brooks. She was a resident of New Iberia, La and on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 8:25 AM, while surrounded by family and friends, God sent His loving angels to bring his Child home.

Dorthy accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior very early in life at Mt. Olive Baptist Church #1 in Freetown, La. She's a graduate of the class of 1959 of Jonas Henderson High School in New Iberia, LA. After marrying her husband, the late Clement Landry, Sr. she became a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church.

Dorothy was a very caring, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She was a talented seamstress that created many unique designs and outfits. As we all know, she didn't really like to be away from her house. With Sunday being the day she cooked a big meal, she enjoyed entertaining company at her house seven days a week. She enjoyed watching her grandkids dance and play in the yard. She liked to sit out on the porch giving her opinion and a piece of her mind to anyone that was around. She had a very colorful way of how she told it to you also.

Dorothy leaves to celebrate her life and cherish precious memories with her children, five sons; Clement Landry, Jr (Erica), Troy (Sabrina) Landry, Kenneth (Debra) Landry, Bryant (Lillie) Landry, all of New Iberia, LA and Terry (Stacey) Landry of Delcambre, LA; and one daughter, Swonnettia L. James; thirty-five grandchildren; seventy-one great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and one Godchild, Debra J. Conner; as well as her nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clement Landry, Sr, her parents, Wilson Brooks and Leetha Joseph Brooks, three sisters, Antoinette Brooks, Prunella Brooks and Delores B. Lee; her brothers, Lionel Brooks, Wilbert Brooks, Clyde Brooks and Steven Brooks and son-in-law, Ricky James.
