St. Gabriel – A Celebration of Life for Devin Michael Boutte, 34, will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Gabriel Community Center, 1400 Gordon Simon LeBlanc Dr., St. Gabriel, LA.  Pastor Eric Fondal will officiate the service.

Private Entombment will be in Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia, LA.

Friends can pay their respects at Davis Family Mortuary, 806 Weldon St., New Iberia, LA from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Thursday, July 10, 2025.

Visitation will resume at Resting Place Funeral Home, 7840 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA from 4:00 PM to 6:00 Pm on Friday, July 11, 2025.

Devin will lie in state at the St. Gabriel Community Center, 1400 Gordon Simon LeBlanc Dr., St. Gabriel, LA, beginning at 9:00 AM and conclude at 11:00 AM the time of service.

Devin Michael Boutte, known to many as "Curly "was born on Friday, February 1, 1991 to in New Iberia, LA.  At the age of three days old, JoAnn "Josie" Raymond  became his mom and reared him into the fine young man came to be.  He was baptized at Cottrell Chapel CME Church, where the family attended worship services.

He attained his early education in the schools of Iberia parish and was a graduate of Westgate High School, Class of 2009. He went to attend Baton Rouge Community College, and later transferred to Southern University A& M College where he received his B.A. in Criminal Justice.          He  furthered his education and  completed his Master's Degree  in Public  Administration. He was employed as a Science Teacher and Dean of Students in Iberville Parish Schools. He worked in law enforcement with St. Gabriel City Police, where he was promoted to Captain.

Devin had a special love for family and people in general. He was a mentor to many, always giving back to his community.  He was a community activist and was affiliated with several Political and Civic organizations. He loved and thoroughly enjoyed the "great outdoors" spending time fishing and hunting.  He loved animals domestic and exotic, having owned  dogs, an alligator, emu, python, monkey and an alligator. He even indulged in alligator wrestling.

Devin was also an entrepreneur, having operated his own Food Truck, Night Club, and Restaurant, which he affectionately named after his mom, "Josie 's Creole Kitchen."

In addition to Ms. Josie, he was also preceded in death by his grandfather, Marshall Herbert, Sr. and a brother, Brett Daigle. Devin's  life came to a sudden end on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at his home.  "Gone to soon."

Devin's life and legacy will always be treasured by his family and friends, most importantly his godmother, LaVon Raymond Johnson, whom he affectionately called "Nanny," and her husband Mario Johnson "Uncle Mario," Aunt Camille Sayrie, Jerome Herbert "Parrain," Marshall Hebert, Braton Hebert, Brandon Hebert, Sage Norman and Bryson Daigle; as well as his St. Gabriel Police department and his extended law enforcement family.
