Remembering Delila Nico Sorrell

New Iberia – Memorial Services for Delila Nico Sorrell, 70. Will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Davis Family Mortuary, 802 Weldon St., New Iberia, LA.

The family can be greeted beginning at 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Private Interment will be alongside her husband in Sorrell Community Cemetery.

Delila was born Friday to the union of the late Tarlton Nico, Sr. and Marion Grayswan in Houston, TX.  She was a lifelong resident of the Four Corners Community. He was a graduate of Franklin Sr. High School. Class of 1973. She furthered her education at University of Southwest Louisiana (UL – Lafayette) and later became an Art Teacher in the schools of St. Mary Parish. She was married to Jerry Sorrell whom preceded her in death.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Celestine Nico, and a sister, Charlene Nico. Delila peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 in Lafayette, LA, with her family at her side.

Delila leaves to cherish precious memories with her daughter, Jerena (Brodie) Soirez; two grandchildren; eight siblings, Gregory Lockette of Four Corners, LA, Tarlton Nico, Jr. and Sonia (Benny) Williams, both of New Iberia, LA, Bobby (Avis) Nico and Christine (Lawrence) Berard, both of Baldwin, LA,Tracy (Michael) Bonito of Atlanta, GA,  and Angela (Bernard) Johnson of Jeanerette, LA ; as well as many other relative and friends.
