New Iberia -  The Homegoing Celebration for Dabrica Dene Derousselle will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 11:00 AM at First Jerusalem Baptist Church, 835 Monnot Road, Jeanerette, LA. Pastor Helen Durieux officiating.  Dabrica, a native of Jeanerette, LA, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025 in New Iberia, LA. She was 47 years old.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025 beginning at 9:00 AM at the church and conclude at the time of service.

Ms. Dabrica Dene Derousselle will await the resurrection at St. Peter Methodist Church Cemetery, 986 St. Peter Street, Jeanerette, LA.

Here we celebrate the exceptional life of Dabrica Dene Derousselle, who was called home to eternal rest on Sunday, November 2, 2025. Dabrica passed peacefully at home surrounded by her dear loved ones. Dabrica Dene Derousselle was born on Monday, August 7, 1978, in New Iberia, Louisiana, to Ronald G. Derousselle and Lula Mae (Provost) Tarleton. This is brief foundation shaped her to be a bold and vigorous young woman. Dabrica was a beautiful, outgoing woman that lit up any room she entered. Her smile, her laugh, her overall aura was a vibe that everyone enjoyed. She was truly the life of the party no matter the occasion.

Raised in Jeanerette, Louisiana, Dabrica graduated from Jeanerette High School, Class of 1997. She then went on to attend Remington College, where she received her associate's degree in medical assistant. Dabrica worked as a Pharmacy Technician for Eckerds (now CVS) for multiple years. She then began working as a private duty caregiver for many more years later. Even though her battle with cancer was cut short, Dabrica's faith remained strong. Hand in hand with the Lord, Dabrica stayed smiling and positive even on her most tiresome days. Through this journey, she always said, "I am going to overcome this. "This is MY testimony." Dabrica was always a child of God but officially gave her life to Him on Sunday, June 22, 2025. She surrendered all her desires and ego, trusting in only the Higher power's will and plan. She was baptized at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana, during one of her stays, where she officially joined St. Peter Methodist Church of Jeanerette, Louisiana. May her beautiful soul peacefully rest on with her Lord and Savior.

Dabrica adored her children and only grandchild, Sarabi Lynn Harris. She was known as "Mimi" to her beloved granddaughter, who she read to or played school with nearly every day. Mimi and Sarabi's favorite pastimes were coloring or watching movies while eating popcorn and pickles. Her children and granddaughter were her everything and she truly lived for them. She was a giver, and she did just that. Making sure her family— Micheal Cassimere, Jarelle Colbert, Carlos Francis, Jonathan Hopes, Wayne Eugene, Earl Sampy, Billy Matthews, Corey DeRousselle, Sr., Reginald L. Stewart, Kyle Jacko, Murray Dorsey, Damien Dorsey, Corey Wiles, Ronald Ward, Johnny Sam, Duanyell Williams, and Dadrian Ledet—was happy made Dabrica happy as well.

She was preceded in death by her bonus father, Normal Tarleton; paternal grandparents, Annie Mae Smith and George DeRousselle; and maternal grandfather, Wilford Provost.

Dabrica leaves her legacy of love to her children: Jarnesha Derousselle (Rodney Harris Jr.) of New Iberia, La, Dontrell Derousselle and Justin Rollis both of Jeanerette, LA, siblings: Shimica Derousselle of Patterson, Ronald Derousselle of Jeanerette, LA, grandmother, Helen Cassimere of Jeanerette, her only grandchild, Sarabi Lynn Harris of New Iberia; her furry companion, Mitch; uncle, Murry Dorsey of Diamondhead, MS, and aunts, Peggy Lynn Provost of Jeanerette, LA and Mary Cassimere of New Iberia, LA.

Dabrica's life will always be remembered. She may be gone from our sight, but not from our hearts.
