Jeanerette - A service honoring the life and legacy of Clenard Simpson, Jr. will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Davis Family Mortuary Chapel, 802 Weldon Street, New Iberia, LA. Family and friends may gather beginning at 12:00 PM at the Davis Family Mortuary Chapel to offer their love and support.

With hearts full of love, we celebrate the life of Clenard "Cup" Simpson Jr., who was born on July 28, 1961, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to the late Clenard Simpson Sr. and Essie Lee Simpson. He was baptized at an early age by Rev. Aaron Marks Sr. and received his education in St. Mary Parish.

Clenard was a devoted father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. His gentle spirit and kind nature touched everyone who crossed his path. He carried himself with quiet goodness, always offering warmth, respect, and sincerity to those around him.

Clenard was preceded in death by his loving parents, Clenard Simpson Sr. and Essie Lee Simpson; one brother, Donald Ray Simpson; his maternal and paternal grandparents: Peter Sorrell Sr., Elzina Matthews‑Sorrell, Mary Marks Robertson, Carrie Jenkins, and Jones Simpson; twelve uncles: Sanders (Shirley) Sorrell, Gilord (Inez) Sorrell, Jerry (Delilah) Sorrell, Peter Sorrell Jr., Alex Matthews, Edward Broussard, Casey Sorrell, Nolton Jackson Sr., Whitney Damon, John Sutton, Herny Manuel Sr., and David (Sarah) Simpson Sr.; and four aunts: Irma (Morris) Lewis, Bernadette Thibodeaux, Shirley Wesley, and Hester Mae (Robert) Simpson Martin.

On Sunday, June 14, 2026, God saw the need for a precious flower in His heavenly garden. He called Clenard home, and Clenard "Cup" Simpson Jr. answered with grace, taking his heavenly wings and entering eternal rest at the age of 64.

Clenard leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his daughter, Alexis Simpson of Montgomery, Alabama; three sisters, Janet (Alray) Johnson of Jeanerette, LA, Joyce (David) Freeman of Baton Rouge, LA, and Barbara (Melvin) Dobbins of New Iberia, LA; five brothers, Dennis Simpson and Herbert Simpson of South Carolina, Christopher Simpson of Pineville, LA, Joseph (Bernadine) Simpson of Jeanerette, LA, and Micheal Barnes of New Iberia, LA.

He is also survived by six aunts: Bernice (Charles) Gallien Sr. of Lake Charles, LA, Alberta (Leonard) Joseph of New Iberia, Clara Bell Jackson of Four Corners, Jeanette Damon of Four Corners, Dora (Ray) Manuel of Four Corners, and Ella Connor of New Iberia, LA; two uncles: Peter (Sandra) Lumpkins and Edarrell Lumpkin of New Iberia.

Clenard held close to his heart his two special nephews, Tajh (Chalorie) Simpson of New Iberia, LA, and Tristian (Danae) Simpson of Virginia; one special niece, Alray'Nasha Simpson of Jeanerette, LA; and one special cousin, Wanda Simpson of Atlanta, GA. He also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends who will forever remember his kindness, humor, and loving spirit.
