New Iberia - Funeral services for Pastor Bernice Simpson Hypolite, 73, will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Glorious Church Worship Center, 1216 David Street, New Iberia, LA. She was a resident of New Iberia, LA and a native of Four Corners, LA.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM at Glorious Church Worship Center, 1216 David Street, New Iberia, LA and conclude at the time of service.

She will await the resurrection at Rising Sons of Liberty Cemetery, Baker Street, Jeanerette, LA.

This scripture is the guide by which Pastor Bernice Hypolite lived. Bernice Simpson Hypolite was born on Saturday, March 1, 1952, to the late Edward Colar and Esther Simpson in Four Corners, Louisiana. She was educated in St. Mary Parish School system. She chose to continue her educational journey at Grambling State University where she obtained an Associate's of Applied Science degree in accounting and later a bachelor's degree in business.

Bernie as she was often known to friends and Nanny to family, was baptized at an early age at St. John's Baptist Church in Four Corners. Her heart for God and service was at the core of everything she did. She alongside her late husband Leslie was afforded the privilege of pastoring Franklin Evangelistic Outreach Church (FEOC). She could always be found helping and assisting abused women, children and elderly members of the community, leading prayer groups, encouraging others in any way that she could and most importantly, allowing herself to be a living example of how to live a life that is pleasing to God.

Bernice has now been reunited with her husband of 43 years, Rev. Leslie Hypolite, Jr.; parents, Esther Simpson and Edward Colar; siblings: Viola Charles, Rita August, Robert Martin, Jr., Clarence Simpson, Ricky Simpson, Brenda Martin; in-laws, Leslie Hypolite, Sr. and Georgia D. Hypolite.

She leaves her most precious memories to her two sons, Wesley Hypolite (Gloria) and Dexter Hypolite (Shaquonna) both of New Iberia, LA; one step-son Terry Thompson; one sister, Yvonne Simpson of New Iberia, LA; four brothers: Roland Martin (Latosca) of Baton Rouge, LA, Keith Colar (Margaret Faye), Edwin Paul Colar, and Anthony Colar, all of Baldwin, LA; one aunt, Ella Connor of Four Corners, LA; three grandchildren: Dexter Hypolite, Jr. of New Iberia, LA, Mekhi Hypolite of Minneapolis, MN, and Jaxyn Walker of Opelousas, LA, two god-children: Larryn Hunter of Mobile, AL and Major Oja of White Bear Lake, MN, and a host of extended relatives and friends.

Bernie fought a great fight with her sister, confidant, and caregiver, Yvonne at her side. After a courageous battle with extended illness, Bernie won the victory and gained her heavenly wings. She transitioned on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, in New Iberia, LA.  "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7.

The family has entrusted their loved one to the caring professionals at Davis Family Mortuary, 802 Weldon Street, New Iberia, LA.
