Maurice - A funeral service to celebration the life of Ben Davis Collins will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Berwick Civic Center, 300 Pattie Dr., Berwick , LA.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM at Berwick Civic Center and conclude at the time of service.

He will be laid to rest at Franklin Cemetery, 1202 Main St, Franklin, LA.

Ben Davis Collins was born on Wednesday, April 8, 1964, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Ben Davis of St. Gabriel, Louisiana, and Gertrude Parker of Mississippi. He was the youngest of his siblings.

Ben grew up in Franklin, Louisiana, attended Franklin High School, and went on to become a truck driver for many years, beginning in 1988. He went into business with his brother, Brian, and created Neglow Trucking Company, traveling across the United States delivering loads.

Ben was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle. In addition to his work as a truck driver, he was also an ordained minister. Most of all, he was a true friend to many. He was a generous man who gave freely and never expected anything in return.

Ben enjoyed spending time with his family and extended family. He loved to cook, and his favorite dish was his famous red beans and rice. He also enjoyed boiling crawfish and making seafood gumbo. Ben was not one to argue; he always said there were three sides to every story: my side, your side, and God's side.

Ben was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude Collins Parker; father, Ben Davis; stepfather, John Parker Jr.; brother, Arnold Collins Sr.; sister, Patricia Collins; sister-in-law, Amanda Collins; Uncle George; Aunt Addie Porters; and five cousins.

Ben is survived by his wife, Melisa Collins, of Maurice, Louisiana; six children: Trienine (Greg) Jones, Benetta (Johnathan) Johnson, Ben (Chenery) Brown, Darius Jenkins, Jarell (Paige) Collins,  and Walter Oliver Jr.; lifelong, friend Pamela Collins; his siblings Brian (Beverly) Collins, Darrel (Jennifer) Long, Colline Collins, Thomas Davis, Wanda Faye (Sammy) Griffin, Lynette Cormier, and Teresa Davis; best friend Walter Oliver Sr.; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; special nephew and godson, Kenneth Cormier; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Ben's faith was strong, and when he spoke, it was never just words. He would often say, "Now let's see what God or the Word says?" Anyone who came into contact with Ben felt the love of God. He touched countless lives of all ages with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith. He will be forever deeply loved, truly missed, and always remembered in the hearts of those he touched.

Ben Davis Collins, departed this life on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. He was a native of Franklin, LA and a resident of Maurice, LA. He was 62 years old.
