New Iberia – In accordance with the family's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service for Alvena Romero Ellis. Those who wish to honor her memory are invited to do so in their own personal way.

Alvena Romero Ellis was born on Monday, February 4, 1957, to Oliver Romero and the former Eva Marie Babin in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was baptized and made her confirmation at an early age in the Catholic faith. As an adult, she embraced a non-denominational Christian faith and found joy in attending bible study.

Alvena was known for her exceptionally kind heart and her willingness to help anyone whenever she could. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and made no apologies for spoiling them. In her pastime, she enjoyed watching wrestling, soccer, Asian dramas, soap operas, and listening to K‑pop groups. During football season, she was a devoted New Orleans Saints fan, cheering them on whether they won or lost. In her quiet moments, crossword puzzles brought her peace and happiness.

In addition to her parents, Alvena was preceded in death by her daughter‑in‑law, Barbara Biggs; her son‑in‑law, Bobby Cedric; and her father‑in‑law, Clyde Biggs.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Christine Ellis, Sarah Dauphine, Heather Ellis, Bobby Ellis, Jr., Brian Ellis (Crystal), and James Ellis; her siblings: Stella Mazerole and Larry Romero, Sr.; her grandchildren: Kaitlyn Dauphine, Jason Dauphine, Jr., Elizabeth Smith, Charles Smith, Faith Smith, and Elorea Ellis; along with a host of extended relatives and friends.

Alvena Romero Ellis made her peaceful transition on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the age of 69, surrounded by her family. She was a resident of New Iberia, Louisiana.

The family has entrusted their loved one to the caring professionals at Davis Family Mortuary, 802 Weldon Street, New Iberia, LA.
